“While the Trump Administration escalates its coordinated attacks on reproductive health care, the freeze on $27.5M in Title X family planning grant funding is designed to directly harm Planned Parenthood and other essential health providers that serve Black and Brown patients, immigrants, the LGBTQIA+ community, the uninsured, and patients with low-incomes. And this time they’re saying the quiet part out loud, making their intent crystal clear – that a “commitment to Black communities” disqualifies these clinics from being able to remain in the grant program,” said Christian LoBue, President, NIRH Action Fund.
“The result of this exclusionary and racist policy is widespread harm, stripping thousands of people across more than a dozen states—many already burdened by abortion bans and limited health infrastructure—of access to critical care. While this administration creates chaos and perpetuates more harm, NIRH remains firmly committed to working with Title X providers and partners to mitigate damage and restore access to care.”
