THE NEW YORK STATE EQUAL RIGHTS AMENDMENT

No matter our gender, age, disability status, or cultural background, we all deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. But right now, New York’s State Constitution doesn’t protect everyone—including pregnant New Yorkers, women, LGBTQ people, those with disabilities, older adults, and people from different countries and cultures.

New York State must pass an Equal Rights Amendment so that New Yorkers’ rights and freedoms are permanently protected in the State constitution—regardless of who is in office.

This ballot measure recognizes that reproductive freedom and bodily autonomy, including abortion access, is interconnected with gender identity and the rights of the LGBTQ+ community, older New Yorkers, those with differing abilities and ethnicities — all of whom have faced historical injustices.
