22 NIRH Action Fund PAC-Endorsed Candidates Bring New York One Step Closer to Enshrining Reproductive Protections in New York State Law

NEW YORK, NY – Last night, reproductive rights champions prevailed in New York State’s primary election, bringing the state one step closer to decriminalizing abortion and enshrining the the rights protected in Roe v. Wade into state law. The election of these candidates, particularly the IDC challengers, will help the advancement of proactive policies that protect reproductive freedom across New York State. New York’s primaries come in the midst of the Trump administration’s continued, virulent attacks on reproductive health, rights, and justice, and the seemingly imminent confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

“What we saw last night was a mandate for change. I am exhilarated by the progress signified by this primary. New Yorkers deserve candidates who will protect and advance reproductive freedom, and these incredible victories will play a major role in reaffirming our state’s commitment to women’s ability to control their bodies, their families, and their lives,” said NIRH Action Fund PAC President Andrea Miller. “With these candidates, New Yorkers have an opportunity to push back against regressive policies and advance a bold vision for the future of our state, including the decriminalization of abortion and access to the full range of reproductive health care services. With less than two months to election day, NIRH Action Fund PAC remains committed to  electing candidates that stand strong for our New York values.”

The NIRH Action Fund PAC applauds the victory of reproductive rights advocates Alessandra Biaggi, Jessica Ramos, Zellnor Myrie, and Robert Jackson as well as Attorney General candidate Letitia James, all of whom have been enduring champions for reproductive health, rights, and justice for New York women and families.

The NIRH Action Fund PAC congratulates the following endorsed candidates on their primary wins – all of whom ran successful campaigns and emerged victorious –  and looks forward to working with all of the candidates through the general election and beyond.
