5 NIRH Action Fund PAC-Endorsed Candidates Running to Defend Reproductive Health, Rights, and Justice in the New York State Senate & Assembly

NEW YORK, NY (April 10, 2018) — Today, the National Institute for Reproductive Health (NIRH) Action Fund PAC endorsed five pro-choice candidates in New York’s upcoming April 24 special elections. The election of these candidates – Luis Sepulveda and Shelley Mayer for State Senate, and Harvey Epstein, Steve Stern and Cynthia Doran for State Assembly – will have critical implications for reproductive health, rights, and justice throughout the Empire State. The five races, two of which would affect the balance of power in the State Senate, come as the Trump administration continues to dismantle and restrict women’s access to reproductive care.

“In the face of the Trump administration’s concerted efforts to restrict reproductive freedom nationwide, New York needs leaders who will fight to protect and advance these essential human rights,” said Andrea Miller, NIRH Action Fund PAC. “The candidates endorsed by the NIRH Action Fund PAC today are proven allies in this fight. With control of the State Senate hanging in the balance, these progressive, pro-choice candidates offer voters a pivotal opportunity to reaffirm and renew New York’s commitment to reproductive justice. The NIRH Action Fund PAC is committed to supporting each of these candidates in their upcoming races.”

The NIRH Action Fund PAC endorsed the following candidates in the upcoming special elections on April 24:

Senate District 32 Luis Sepulveda (D)
Senate District 37 Shelley Mayer (D)
Assembly District 74 Harvey Epstein (D)
Assembly District 10 Steve Stern (D)
Assembly District 107 Cynthia Doran (D)
