In response to President Biden’s announcement to step back as the Democratic presidential nominee, the National Institute for Reproductive Health Action Fund is calling on the next nominee to adopt the Abortion Justice Now framework into their abortion policy agenda. Please see our statement below.
Statement from Haydee Morales, interim president, National Institute for Reproductive Health Action Fund:
“A new presidential nominee is an opportunity to declare a reproductive freedom agenda that affirms abortion rights without exception. The NIRH Action Fund recognizes this is an unprecedented moment in our country that leaves the future even more unpredictable. It’s more important than ever to shore up our cities and states – support pro-abortion candidates and initiatives. This is the only way to withstand the changing winds at the federal level.
“We demand the nominee adopt the Abortion Justice Now framework and call for nationwide protections from government interference for all people seeking or providing abortion care. This is the time for the Democratic Party to clearly articulate what it looks like to liberate abortion rights from the chains of government interference. This is what voters want and this is what it will take to win the election.”
