Sarah Michal Hamid (she/they) is a reproductive justice organizer, storyteller, full spectrum doula and digital creative. As a person of the digital era, Sarah grew up watching young people organize for social justice and bodily autonomy through the internet. Sarah witnessed the power of digital organizing when working on an LGBTQ+ parent justice campaign in Hawaiʻi, where she successfully organized legislative action with an entirely digital strategy. Since then, Sarah has harnessed the power of Gen Z’s love for the world wide web to further connect and strengthen the digital communities of the reproductive justice movement. They have had the honor to work on digital reproductive justice campaigns with Birth Future Foundation, Advocates for Youth, and Women First Digital. Her work as a digital creative and storyteller is inherently informed by her lived experience as a queer woman of color. Our stories are our lives, and our lives are powerful.
Sarah is a graduate of the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa with degrees in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies & Interdisciplinary Studies: Sustainability. When Sarah is not coordinating communications at NIRH or providing full spectrum doula care to community members, you can likely find them gardening, making tea, painting flowers, collecting earrings, and spending time with their niblings.
